Pre-Trial Diversion

Pre-Trial Diversion Goals
The goal of the Pre-Trial Diversion Program is to lower trial caseloads and use corrective programs to rehabilitate non-violent first-time offenders. The first-time accused / defendant who is accepted into the Pre-Trial Diversion Program must agree to the completion of programs or activities as a means of personalized rehabilitation. Upon completion of the programs / activities, the accused is eligible to have his/her case administratively dismissed by the District Attorney’s Office.

Successful completion of the Pre-Trial Diversion Program can result in the expungement or clearing of the particular charge from the accused’s arrest record. Failure of the accused to complete the agreed upon program will result in the continuation of charges and prosecution of the case in court.
